Apparently, it's now in the final stages of postproduction. PTerry collaborated on the script, and even appeared in a cameo role as the Toymaker.

Re: Hogfather movie!
Thu, January 25, 2007 - 4:45 PMI saw it and loved it. (A hacker friend somehow got me a copy of the two parts and although it didn't play on my DVD player it did play on my computer.)
They did a really good job with Death and his voice, but the star was Susan. She was perfect! Mr. Teatime was just as weird and creepy as he is in the book. (The only disappointment for me - and it is a minor one - was the whole bathroom sequence featuring the notorious craftsmanship of Bloody Stupid Johnson. It fell flat.)
The casting was, by and large, excellent. (Come on, be fair! How do you possibly find an actor that fits your mental image of Nobby Nobbs?) :-)
Any other reviews? -

Re: Hogfather movie!
Mon, January 29, 2007 - 12:02 PMI have emailed my said-hacker friend if he would be willing to divulge to me where he accidentally might have found said movie and mistakenly clicked on download, being so against piracy as he is. If he divulges then I will post the info for you.
I do know that the company who bought the rights bought the global rights, so I am sure the movie will be released this year anyway. My sister bought a really cool hardcover picture book of the movie, so I know that's already available. (Ergo, the movie can't be too far behind... in theory...)

Fri, March 16, 2007 - 11:53 AMAnyone have an update on when it's coming out?
How about where we can get our feverishly nerdy hands on a copy? -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Hogfather movie!
Mon, March 19, 2007 - 9:13 AM>>> ...hands on a copy?
My hacker friend found the movie on Torrents. However, I heard the movie will be coming out in April so it's not a long wait... -

Re: Hogfather movie!
Tue, March 11, 2008 - 7:00 AMIt's out now! I have a copy in my hot little hands and it's terrific! The casting is brilliant. Everyone looks exactly as I imagined them to be. Corp. Nobb is a riot!, and I love the interactions between Death and Albert. One thing I really like is they didn't play it over-the-top or cartoonish at all. It's in two parts, so they were able to dedicate time to the story without cutting much out.
There's also an interview by Pratchett who readily endorses the film...said he felt like a kid playing with a train set. It's not a big budget production, but as Pratchett said himself, a bigger budget wouldn't have made it any better than it already is...just bigger.

Re: Hogfather movie!
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 9:36 PMI just this minute finished watching Part 1. Maybe Albert isn't slimy enough, but wow. Beautiful attention to detail, the Wizards could have posed for the Kidby artwork.
What's the deal with the Daddy in the Hogfather get-up, though? I mean, everybody Knows he's just your father really but Really, was it necessary to add anything that wasn't in the Book?
